Modeling the Rock Island

Proto 2000 USRA 0-6-0 switching the Sinclair oil dealer in Eldon.  One industry spur had three oil dealers in the 1940's.

This view shows the interchange track on the left with the Frisco boxcar, tankcar and Rock Island boxcar after being setout by the Mop local.  The grain elevator is a modified Walther's kit reduced in height and covered with gray art paper to resemble metal siding.  AMB's small C&NW elevator sits next to the larger one with a metal storage bin next to it.  The covered hopper and FM switcher is on the St. Louis to Kansas City mainline which, in reality on the layout, is merely a long runaround track to help switching operations to/from the industry and interchange tracks.
